5 Simple Tools to Make Busy Shipping Days Less Stressful.

Posted by Sarah Rohde on December 07, 2017

The holidays are right around the corner.  Busy days mean you will have less time to attend to some of the

details that seems easier to manage when you don’t have a line of customers staring you down. We have put

together 5 simple things you can do to help alleviate some of the stress caused by very busy days.

     1. Schedule an appointment with a computer tech now to go through every work station. Make

sure all all software is up-to-date, and all machines are virus free and working at peak performance.

It’s not too late to order parts if needed. There is nothing more stressful than a malfunctioning piece

         of equipment during peak-season.

*You can always contact OLSON & IVES for last minute equipment needs.

      2. Prepare a fresh slide presentation that can be viewed by your customers. Make something

attractive and interesting to keep customers busy and happy while in line for your excellent customer

service. Include photos of special or difficult things you’ve

packed (be sure you get permission from the sender before you post photos), and include

information about your other services and specials. Keep it simple, current, and engaging.

What would YOU like to look at while in line at a retail location? If customersare less stressed,

          you will be, too.

       3. Change out all the receipt paper, Dymo, and Zebra label rolls at each work-station at the

end of every day. When you are busy, changing out rolls of labels and receipt paper in the middle of a

transaction only adds to your stress level. When it quiets down later in the month, you can use up all

those partial rolls. Top off your copier and fax machines at the same time.

  1. Pre-order food from a local source the night before a predicted busy day. Mondays in

December are historically the busiest mailing days.  You will all be grateful that you

don’t have to think about food on that day.  It will just “magically” appear.

  1. Plan a holiday thank you event for some time in January to show appreciation to your

hard-working staff and to celebrate a successful reduced-stress shipping season.
